Legacy Estate Planning

Our clients with a greater net worth still need a living trust as the core of their estate planning package.  Although the estate tax exemption laws are in a state of flux, a living trust can mean significant tax savings for a married couple.  As of 2009, about $1,500,000 in estate taxes could be avoided with the use of a living trust for clients with adequate assets.

At Brownell Law Corporation we provide a number of more sophisticated estate planning tools for our clients with a higher net worth.  These planning tools include the following:

  • Marital Deduction Trusts;
  • Generation Skipping Trusts;
  • Irrevocable Trusts;
  • Grantor Retained Income Trusts;
  • Life Insurance Trusts;
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts;
  • Special Needs Trusts

For our higher net worth clients who need our legacy planning, we start with the initial planning phase.  We meet with you to get to know you, to understand your family, your values and your goals.  We go over your estate with you in detail to make sure we understand clearly what you want your estate plan to do for you and your family.

We then move to the building phase wherein we draft and construct the documents necessary to implement all facets of your legacy estate plan.   We communicate with you along the way on a regular basis, keeping you updated and informed as the process goes along.  We make sure that you have a crystal clear understanding of all aspects of your family’s estate plan.  Once the estate planning documents are in place and executed, you will have the peace of mind knowing that your family is protected and well taken care of.

Down the road you will need to have your estate plan reviewed to make certain that it carries out your wishes and intentions.  We call this the periodic tune up phase.  This gives you the comfort of knowing that your legacy continues to grow with your family’s future generations.
